Optimise your day with a strong morning mindset
You have probably never heard of ‘morning mindset’ before as it is a term, I basically just came up with to describe the importance of understanding and accepting the necessity of having a game-changer of a morning routine.
The way you start your day will define your feelings, your experiences and the opportunities you will go through.
Remember life does not happen to you but FOR YOU. It is your choices that create the reality you live in.
In saying so, there is nothing more beneficial than choosing to start your day on a positive note.
Are you tired of hitting the snooze button too many times you accidentally switch it off? What happens after sounds and feel like the plot of a horror movie! You are late for work, there is no time for breakfast, you make it to the station but you have missed the bus and now you have to wait, on top of that, traffic seems to be pretty hectic and you are getting more and more frustrated. By the time you get to work, your boss is annoyed at you and the first comment you receive is about all the must-dos you need to have completed by the end of the day to which you are already late and you think… WHY does everything happen to me?!
But does it really?
Think about how different things would have been if you had CHOSEN to get up on time. Oops am I pushing you a bit here? Let me give you some tips to a great start to your day.
5 Simple Steps for a Successful Morning Routine
Go to bed earlier! The reason you are so ridiculously tired in the morning is probably due to the fact you are not sleeping enough.
Have an outfit ready. I love to use Sunday afternoons to plan my week ahead. This can take you 20 minutes and it will make your week so much easier. Plan a series of outfits to wear and have them out the night before. Once you wake up in the morning you won’t have to spend a second figuring out what to wear.
Have your lunch packed. Meal prep is another one of my favourites. I only cook twice a week. Sundays and Wednesdays and let me tell you, there is nothing like going to the fridge and having a yummy meal ready to go. You will save time, you’ll save money and you will probably eat healthier if you plan your meals.
Know your Bus Timetable. If you are in Australia, apps like Moovit are amazing to check updates and to make sure you always have access to the fastest routes.
Express gratitude and / or do a 5 min morning meditation. One of the worse things you could do for your mental health is to go straight to your social media when you wake up. Instead, have a journal by your bedside table and write down 3 things you are grateful for. This simple exercise will put a smile on your face! If you are not into journaling, Spotify offers numerous morning meditations. Pick one and absorb the positive energy you’ll need for the day.
Easy, right? If you think you may not have enough time for this, I will say organisation and getting used to your new routine is the key. Get up 5 minutes earlier if you need to and don’t give up!
